Rancher Endorsed Program

World-Famous Angus

Angus is the world's most famous beef breed. Their origins can be traced back to the first cattle bred by the Celts in the countryside of Northeast Scotland in the early 1500s.

Angus CowOriginally known as "hummlies" and "doddies" in the Scottish counties of Aberdeenshire and Angusshire the breed became the Aberdeen-Angus we know today. Over time, Aberdeen-Angus cattle spread throughout Scotland, England and Ireland and were eventually exported to the rest of the British Colonies. The first Angus arrived in Canada in 1860.

Canadian Angus Rancher Endorsed

The Canadian Angus Rancher Endorsed program guarantees that the beef used in products bearing this label come from beef cattle with 50% or more Canadian Angus genetics.

All cattle in Canada are required to be tagged with a radio-frequency identification tag. The Canadian Angus Association created the Angus tag program that is available only to cattle with at least one purebred Angus parent. To qualify for the Canadian Angus Rancher Endorsed program, the cattle used must bear the Angus tag which identifies them as Canadian Angus cattle.
