A Mythical History
Tracing their origins back to the first cattle bred by the Celts, Angus cattle are a breed of History and Myth. In point of fact the first writings of the famous black polled cattle that grazed the countryside of Northeast Scotland were made in the early 1500's.
Originally known as "hummlies" and "doddies", in the counties of Aberdeenshire and Angusshire the breed became the Aberdeen-Angus we know today. Over time Aberdeen-Angus cattle spread throughout Scotland, England and Ireland and were eventually exported to the rest of the British Colonies. In Canada the first Angus arrived in 1860 and today has become the World's most famous beef breed.
